I got into working on and modifying cars as soon as I got my license. Since then I’ve owned and built a lot of cars – from Honda motors swaps to a built sr20det to budget turbo builds. I finally discovered rallying when I got my first Galant VR4 in 2005 but it took another 3 years before I actually got my foot in the door rallycrossing my STI. 2009 was my first year running stage rally in my de-turbo’d STI in the Open Light class. I love rally and the rally community and hope to be involved in the sport for a long time. Plus we've had a lot of lulz. And choice of potato.
Dave “Old Man” Goodman, a resident of Eden Prairie, MN, is a long-time Rally enthusiast. Starting at an early age he realized dirt and speed were in his blood. Starting in the late 80’s Dave has been mesmerized by rally racing and his enthusiasm for the sport has only become more intense throughout the years.
In recent years Dave has served as a Forum Moderator and Club Officer of Minnesota Subaru Owners Club (MNSOC). In late 2009 Dave has accepted a position with Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) as the Rally Cross Chairperson for the Land O’ Lakes Region.
If Dave isn’t busy organizing a race event he’s more than likely working on a club member’s car, Co-Driving for Carl, or sitting behind the wheel of the team’s Ice Race Car in the IIRA Ice Racing series.
If you want to grab his attention call him old, hand him a Red Bull drink, and ask him anything about the sport of pro rally!
I've been into rally since I was into cars. It started before I even had my license, and I was looking for an Audi Quattro for my first car. That didn't work out, and my first car ended up being a Subaru. I immediately began modifying them. I had a pair of lifted '88 GL wagons for years, and then I started modding for some performance, building my '92 Loyale into a FrankenWagon. Now I prep wiring harnesses for Subaru engine swaps (NumbchuxConversions.com), and work on my own projects. Crewing for the ZRT has managed to scratch my rally itch, for now anyway.
I grew up in Columbus Ohio, and received my Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University in 2007. Currently I work For Parker Hannifin as territory manager for our pneumatic products. That was what moved me here to Minnesota in late 2008. It was not until moving to MN that I became involved in the Rally world. I am looking forward to the start my second season of RallyX this spring.
Love crazy projects and working on cars, been doing it since high school. I enjoy all of the things I do or have wonderful family (mostly because they support my crazy plans), my Subaru projects and other classic projects I have. I’m married and have a little boy who is 20 months at this time, he’s learning to drive a stick right now (I think he wants to beat Carl at rally’s).
